LIQUID LIPSTICKS TO REPLACE YOUR NOUBA WITH
If you live in Kenya(and maybe abroad) you have seen the Nouba Millebaci craze. From the moment this liquid lipstick was worn by a popular fashion blogger, we all went bananas. It looked so gorgeous. We swore from then on,that Nouba Millebaci will be the only lipstick we wear. I loved it at first and even wrote rave reviews about it. But personally I came to find out later that it can be a bit drying and feathers alot. I sometimes have to keep wearing lip balm for days after I take off my Nouba because of overly-dry lips. I’m not completely writing off Nouba. I’m just saying that there are other options to explore out there. In no particular order, here are some liquid lipstick alternatives to Nouba Millebaci. These are either as good or better than Nouba:
This liquid lipstick is a cult favourite and for good reason. Its longevity on the lips is unmatched. It also doesn’t dry out the lips. It is also bleed-proof and transfer-proof. You won’t be getting lipstick stains on your coffee cups. Get yours here.
There’s a reason why these are talked about so much. They’re like a hybrid between a lipstick and a gloss. So don’t expect them be as matte and thick as Nouba. The beauty with these is that they don’t feel heavy on the lips and are comfortable to wear. They smell so lovely. Also, with names like ‘London’ ‘Tokyo’ or ‘Addis Ababa’ , you can’t help but feel a sense of wanderlust! Find it here.
This non-drying liquid lipstick from Smashbox is the latest one to hit the market. It is infused with jojoba, apricot and sunflower oils to keep your pout moisturized throughout the day. This lipstick stays on for a while. I would compare it to the MAC liquid lipstick. But this one is slightly better. It’s online here.
This liquid lipstick from Hourglass delivers opaque colour, feels weightless on the lips and doesn’t flake or cause dryness. One of their selling points is that it is Paraben-free; sulfate-free; phthalate-free; synthetic fragrance-free; GMO-free; triclosan-free; synthetic dye-free.You will be able to layer on this lipstick effortlessly. For instance if you want to touch up your liquid lipstick in the course of the day. With Nouba I have found that I have to take the whole thing off before I can put it on again.

Ugh.I am in love. These lipsticks feel like nearly nothing on the lips. They are so light weight and have a nice minty, cake-like smell. They also don’t dry out your lips.Did I mention they last and last and last? Once you apply them that is. My favourite shade is ‘Charming’. It’s a great mauve nude for dark skin. These can be found HERE.
Love this liquid lip from Jouer. It smells like vanilla frosting. The feel is light and mousse-like. It is truly long-wearing, with a wear of at least 8 hours with reasonable eating and drinking. Not forgetting the faty that you get 0.2 fluid ounces of product. That’s pretty good for a liquid lipstick. This is bang for your buck.Get it here.
7.COLOURED RAINE LIP PAINT
I have 6 of these and I love them. They feel light and layer really well. Their staying power is phenomenal and they have so many shades. I love the fact that the brand has unconventional colours like grey mauves, green, blue and dark brown. However, beware of the shade ‘Raine Fever’. It goes on a bit streaky so you need more than one layer. I got mine on colouredraine.com
8.DOSE OF COLOURS
As with any matte liquid lipstick, these apply like a liquid and dry down to a matte finish. Transfer is minimal with these and can we swoon over the really bright, beautiful colours? Their pinks and purples are gorgeous. They also have darker colours like ‘Chocolate wasted’ and ‘mood’ which work perfectly for dark skinned divas like me.I have seen thesee being sold here in Kenya on Instagram. I just can’t remember which Instagram account! My bad. If you know where to find these locally please let us know in the comments below.Otherwise, you can get them on doseofcolours.com
I know I haven’t mentioned the Kylie Jenner lip kits.I know. But it’s because I really don’t like them and rumour has it that you’re just paying $30 for her name.Allegedly, she took Colour Pop liquid lipsticks and repackaged them into Kylie lip kits.Colour Pop liquid lipstick is only $6 .Do the math!
